'June barely has time to mourn the death of her best friend Delia, before Delia's ex-boyfriend convinces her Delia was murdered, and June is swept into a tangle of lies, deceit, and conspiracy.'
This book is one that will make your heart race, and race. Honestly, it sweeps you away and by the end, you're left shocked and confused - as you should feel after a good thriller novel!
While the characters were good but there weren't really any stand-out favourites, it was the relationships and the story that really drove the suspense, and the book, forward. Delia and June's relationship is portrayed very wholesome, then very twisted, even toxic - and while that unnerved me, I can't not say that it made the thrill of this novel greater - as you literally don't know what's going to happen next, especially when the idea of Delia being murdered comes into play.
There were also a lot of shocks, twists and turns that felt like a punch to the gut, because I honestly didn't know where anything was going. I don't think I can say much about the plot without spoiling anything - but the twists in this will really, really shock you. To the extent that I audible gasped at one. Weingarten has a way of writing plot anything she has written can be completely unravelled in seconds - you can't trust anyone, and I was completely hooked from the start. If you need a summer read that will keep you sucked in for days after you finish reading - then this is the definite book for you.
Although I feel like there should maybe be more too it, perhaps because I don't usually read thrillers - this book just looked too good to resist - so I'm looking for answers and information where there needn't be any, this is definitely an amazing mystery that will leave your heart racing, your head spinning, and you begging for more from an author that knows how to keep you on your toes.
Need a book that will leave you begging for more? Need a read that will leave you stupefied at the twists? Then this is the book for you. I can see it being a bit hit, and deservedly so. I can't wait to see what Weingarten comes up with next.
